Today, at 9:40 a.m., only a short time after his wife had arrived in Fargo, summoned here when he was found lying, face downward, in a snowdrift along United States highway No. 81, about 10 miles south of Fargo, Mr. Lumbard died in a Fargo hospital...
And tomorrow--Thanksgiving day--Mrs. Lumbard will take the body of her husband to that home which had looked forward so eagerly for his coming.
Mr. Lumbard, temporarily a resident of Fargo while engaged as a collector here for the Advance Rumely company, in the fact of warnings that to undertake the trip would be extremely hazardous, set out in his car for Huron. He had gone only 10 miles when his car became stalled.
Probably a vain effort to start it was followed by his effort to reach help, and a quarter of a mile from his stalled machine he was overcome, falling into a snowbank at the roadside where he was found at 4:30 p.m. by George Anderson, a farmer residing in the Wild Rice district...
Brought to Fargo it was apparent at once that his condition was critical. Word went to his home and Mrs. Lumbard came immediately, arriving shortly before the end came. The children, Erma, of Chicago and Donald, Paul and Alta Mae, residing at home, are in Huron... on 26 November 1930 at The Fargo Forum, Fargo, Cass County, ND, USA.
