Douglas Crane, who once vied with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castle in ballroom dancing, died at a San Francisco hospital today of injuries resulting from a fall. The accident occurred Thursday in the studio of the former dancer at 901 Potrero Avenue, where Crane was employed making lithographs for the WPA Federal Art Project.
Crane, and his wife Ivy, were a popular society dance team in San Francisco 20 years ago. They were credited with originating the tea dansant vogue.
He is survived by Mrs. Crane, now a Los Angeles resident, and a son.³
