"G.A. BENTLEY DEAD
G.A. Bentley, known for many years in Decatur as "Gus" Bentley, died at 11:30 Tuesday evening. He lived over Brooks' store alone. Night Watch Steele lives over the pool room adjoining and when he went to his room, Gus called to him that he was sick. A doctor was summoned but he passed away in a few minutes.
Gus Bentley had been a resident of Decatur for many years. His father was George A. Bentley, a pioneer of the village. He was married some forty years ago to a daughter of the late John Linderman and they were the parents of two daughters, Lulu and Mabel. The mother and one of the daughters are dead, the other daughter is in Oregon but no one knows her address.
For a number of years he lived in North Dakota, but for the past fifteen or more years he has lived alone over Brooks' store. His only near relative in Decatur or vicinity is Elmer Steele, a nephew, and he is looking after the funeral arrangements.
