It's been awhile since I've been able to devote any time to genealogy with the twins in school, working and doing the whole PTA-mom thing.  I have retired (although I don't seem to have gained any time by doing so!)  I've updated the look and feel of the site and there are thousands of new names in our database.  There are a number of corrections and additions to previous information that had been on the site, too.

There's been a change in how the data is displayed, especially with census info.  To make for easier reading, the transcription of the census lines is no longer in the person data.  However, they are still sourced.  Person pages now have pdf icons if I have linked any documents to that person.

A few things have moved; please be sure to check your bookmarks.  The links I used to have on the Genealogy - Main page have moved to the Resources page.  There is now a Places tab; click on any linked text and there will be a list of people who have that place show up somewhere in their information.  The Search tab will take you to a form to search this website.

Unfortunately, all the links to the person pages changed with one of the upgrades to the software I use to generate the site from my database, so if you've sourced them or linked them, they won't work as you currently have them.  The good news is that you simply need to change "gendata" to "g0" before the page number to any of your old links and they'll be updated, too.  Example:  old link:  http://www.lumbardgenealogy.com/gendata/p1.htm#i25  should now be: http://www.lumbardgenealogy.com/g0/p1.htm#i25

I also changed file names and directory locations of newspaper clippings/documents.  Due to the large quantity of individuals in my database, I decided to begin each file name with the person's ID number so that I could ensure I linked each document to the proper individual.

In the Master Index, you'll now find icons denoting the censuses I've found and recorded for those individuals.  Person pages now have icons to denote male or female (if known), if a twin/triplet, etc., as well as links to any charts they may show up in and any linked documents.  There is now a "last edited" date on the person pages so you can see the last time I changed any information on that person.

The Gravestones pages have been updated to reflect Find-A-Grave's new links and I've added a few thousand new links and should have almost all of the Lumbard burials for Canada and the United States linked if I've been able to find a picture online.  Not everyone is linked into my database yet, but I'm fairly far along on that.  I think you'll find it will make it easier for you to search for a specific individual with all the variant spellings treated as one on those pages.  Any gravestones that I had had previously on this site have had their page names changed to match their IDs in my database.

You may find some lines that don't connect into the main Lumbard/Sutton/Martin lines (like Sorrells, Redman and several others).  DNA evidence suggests that those lines do connect in at some point, but I have not yet been able to determine and/or confirm exactly where just yet.

Other pages not devoted to genealogy have been deleted - with exception of the Aviation page. I've received emails over the years that students have found it helpful.

Hopefully, you'll find the site much easier to navigate than previous editions.

As always, if you have corrections, additions, questions or comments, you can contact me at vivian@lumbardgenealogy.com.  I may not answer in a timely manner, but I am reading and updating what I can when I have the time.

Happy Researching!

Vivian
