On Thursday, Oct. 30, 1902, Mr. J. C. Martin was stricken with cerbral apoplexy and on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 9:30 P. M. was called to depart from this world and enter into the haven of eternal rest. Mr. Martin was born in the town of Clarence, Sept. 8 1832, being 71 years at the time of his death. He was a resident of that place over 42 years. His father preceeded him one month at the age of 96 years. He leaves a widow, two brothers, a number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss. The funeral services were held from the Disciple church Clarence, Tuesday, Nov. 4, Rev. L. B. Witbee officiating. Interment is the Fillmore Cemetery.¹
